About

I'm of Scandinavian heritage and based in Berkshire. I come from a web design and illustration background. I'm currently painting mainly in acrylics on canvas, but like to explore other media from time to time.

I'm passionate about trees and love to paint them.  They are the life source of our Earth and all who live here. Trees are amazing! They communicate with each other via complex networks of fungi under the ground and the stronger trees give water to the weaker ones in their network, to help them in times of drought.

The beauty of trees never ceases to astound me, beginning with pollination and conception and culminating in their magnificent autumn displays and finally their death and decay which, in turn feeds the next generation of sapplings. They provide food, shelter and warmth to many species on our overcrowded planet whilst breathing life-giving oxygen into our atmosphere.

Our deforestation and destruction of these life-giving trees must stop before we destroy our planet and all who live here.

My painting has encouraged me to investigate and look at trees in much greater depth. The more I’ve looked, the more I’ve realised that without trees there is nothing. I hope that my paintings encourage other people to look at and fall in love with the trees and forests around us and to work to preserve them for future generations.

Whilst trees and forests are my passion, I also work with other subject matter, including people, other aspects of  the natural world, or sometimes just an idea or feeling. I'm also interested in light and its different emotional effects, as well as exploring composition and expressionism and abstraction in my art.

I hope you enjoy looking at my paintings. If you are interested in buying anything, please use my contact  page to get in touch.
